Well, in the strategy class today, we discussed the case of eHarmony. So, if you haven't guessed it yet, there was an enthusiastic participation from the class to build this case - talking about dating, marriages, compatibility and matching people. From "Do you know why bars are always a little dark" to "Do we know if the person we meet in a bar is also interested in a long term relationship" to "Lies of an Online Profile", we brainstormed it all, and with pleasure :-)
As if the matching of people was not fun enough, enters Prof. Gonzalo to extend the concepts of Exchange Rates. "Countries behave exactly like People, because in the end they are made up of people and are run by people. So, analyzing exchange rates can be done by using tools similar to that in micro-economics" Ahah !! so now, we are matching not compatibilities of people, but the interest rates they offer and currencies their nations print. Interesting day so far.
And this day extended further as we had to work on our Decision Making Assignment. Stayed up until 2 AM and got done with the assignment. I like playing around with numbers, so didn't really realize how time passed. As the assignment was about helping one Mr. Anders to arrive at correct numbers to take decisions, yet again, I was doing nothing but matching numbers with variables, uncertainties and chances.
Another long but interesting day, spent matching people, their nations, their currencies and the numbers :-)
